People had assessments to identify risks to their health and wellbeing. Risk management plans were developed to reduce and manage the likelihood of reoccurrence. Staff followed the risk management guidance whilst enabling people to make choices to take risks whilst ensuring they were safe. Everywhere was so clean and the atmosphere very happy. We were over the moon when we were offered a place. Rheola is very welcoming, people are always well cared for and the staff are very approachable and friendly. The staff are always around when I need to talk to someone.

Not only did they look after my Mum, but they always had time to look after us. Many of Glennfield’s carers remind me of Florence Nightingale in their loving dedication to the welfare of others. It is difficult to express sufficiently in words our gratitude to these people for looking after my ailing mother so well. The carers in my father’s unit were not only professional, but compassionate and caring.

At the time of our inspection 55 people were using the service. – the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service. With the passing of my father, it was important for us to find my mother a good residential home.

This inspection took place on 20 and 31 October 2016 and was unannounced. Castlebar Nursing Home is a nursing home that is registered to provide accommodation and personal care for up to 63 people, some of whom are frail and live with dementia. At the time of the inspection there were 57 people living at the service. The director of nursing Claire O'Connor leads the caring team of 12 nurses and 24 healthcare assistants, supported by the activities coordinator, chefs and household staff. We are very happy with the nursing care my mother receives.

I could not be more thrilled with level of service and professionalism at Etheldred. Everything had the feel of being incredibly well looked after. The staff came across fantastically well and were happy to answer our questions about the place and the care that would be given.

She receives frequent and considerate and sympathetic attention and there are always events and things of interest for her. The accommodation is always clean, neat and tidy. The care given to my mum I think is excellent, especially when she first came. The staff had exceptional patience and have carried that on ever since.

My whole family thank Aliwal Manor for the reassurance that a very old lady we love is being cared for so well in her declining years, something we acknowledge that we cannot do ourselves. Thank you so much for the love and support you gave to my father and our family. We can’t thank you enough for all you have done to make Dad so comfortable. I cannot sing the praises of Castlemead Court enough; an establishment that has to be seen to witness just how a care home should be run. I applaud the high standards of care given to those that need it most by people that really care.

Visitors should not enter the care home if they are feeling unwell, even if they have tested negative for COVID-19 and are fully vaccinated and have received their booster. Transmissible viruses such as flu, respiratory syncytial virus and norovirus can be just as dangerous to care home residents as COVID-19. Please note that we regularly review our visiting policy and therefore welcome any feedback from your visits, preferably by email. Your feedback will help us to make any improvements needed.

I have the utmost confidence in the home and staff. They treat me as part of the family and care for my wellbeing through these tough times with my wife's illness. Nothing is too much trouble; 100% happy with everything to do with the home.

I have found all staff very friendly both towards Mum and ourselves when we're visiting. We are always updated when we visit about her health and wellbeing, which is so reassuring. We are continuing to support the people who live and work with us. Lewisham Council is working with the care home to help residents move to alternative homes.
